Summary: Dustfinger and Raphael at the bar


Raphael went ahead to the bar without looking that Raphael was coming after him. Thinking of home always put him in a sad mood.

Instead of sitting on the counter he went to a table and sit on a chair there so that Raphael could be across from him.

"What kind of food do they have where you're from?" he asked curiously. "Do you cook?"

"Sure", Dustfinger said. "I cook what I catch when I have to find my own food, too. And the food they have where I'm from is... simpler than most of what I have seen here. Not so spicy. More natural."

He thought for a moment.

"Well, the food in the castles probably isn't simpler."

"I'll never forget the first time I had spaghetti," he grinned. "What's your favorite?"

"I don't know", Dustfinger said. "It's all strange. My wife makes good food, but she's back home."

"Is your wife a performer too?"

[feuerschlucker]

"No", he said. "She's not, but she is the most beautiful woman you can think of. And I wish how she is living now that I am gone. Maybe she has a new husband already."

Raphael looked sad. "How can I help?"

[feuerschlucker]

"I don't think you can," Dustfinger said. "No one can. Unless you know a silvertongue. If you ever meet one, send him to me? That would help."

"I will, I promise."

[feuerschlucker]

Dustfinger nodded. "There's not much of a chance of it, though, I fear."

Raphael didn't know what to say. "Have you asked the So- I mean, Jarod?"

[feuerschlucker]

"Who is he?" Dustfinger asked. "Where does he live? Is he read things into books?"

[featheredhugs]

"He lives here and he Created the whole world," he said. "Maybe you can ask him if he reads into books too."

[feuerschlucker]

"What do you mean, he created the whole world? Is he an author?" Dustfinger asked. "And where here? In the hotel? Does he have a room? I didn't know there were writers here."

"He wrote the Bible, I would say its a pretty important book. He has a room here."

[feuerschlucker]

"Is that a good book?" Dustfinger asked. "What kind of world does it have? Is it less noisy than this?"

He had never conisdered having himself read into a different book, but maybe in the long run that might be preferable to staying right here.

"It's a book about the Creation of this world," he said. "I find it fascinating, but then, I was there when it happened."

[feuerschlucker]

"Every book creates a world", Dustfinger said. "How is that one?"

[featheredhugs]

"That is true," he nodded, thinking of how to answer. "Well, He spoke everything into existence. Light, trees, animals. Except humans, he created them out of dust. I find the Creation of the world quite fascinating indeed."

[feuerschlucker]

"That is what an author does", Dustfinger pointed out. "What is the world in it like?"

[featheredhugs]

"You're in it," Raphael smiled. His smile faded only slightly. "It is a wonderful place but sometimes bad things happen and it's not so wonderful."

[feuerschlucker]

"No," Dustfinger said. "This isn't a world in a book. This is the world that makes books."

Raphael had to admit that was true. "Have you visited other worlds besides this one?" he asked curiously.
