Summary: Kirby decides it's warm enough for a bath.



It was a spur-of-the-moment idea. Kirby had just been trotting past the pond on her morning run, and it seemed like a good enough idea. The morning wasn't overly warm, but certainly nowhere near cold enough to deter her.

Kirby walked up to the end of the pond to peer in. It didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary. With Rose's revelation of being a werewolf, and the winged angel in the house, who knew what kind of creatures were living in that body of water?

She saw no mermaids or naiads or creatures that looked likely to try to take a bite out of her - not that she was sure she would have recognised the former anyway.

With a quick shake of her head and a laugh about herself, she stripped down to bra and panties and jumped in.

The water was cool, to the point of nearly qualifying as cold. With some strong strokes, she crossed to the opposite bank, turned and swam back.

Atlan walked up to the edge of the pond to watch the woman. She was quite a sight, especially for one of these barbarians. He hid neither himself nor the appreciation in his look as he followed her progress through the water.

Kirby rarely didn't notice when someone was watching her, and she certainly didn't miss a man walking up to the pond that overtly.

She swam until she was just out of reach of the shore, then stopped, treading water and looking up at him.

"Good morning, sir!" she said. "What a nice morning for a swim. Care to jump in and joint me?"

Atlan grinned but otherwise didn't move.

"I think it's still a bit cool for my taste," he said. Arkon was somewhat warmer than this sorry excuse for a planet.

"But don't let me disturb your morning exercise."

"I'm just cooling off after my morning exercise," Kirby claimed. "Besides, it's not even that cold.

Atlan looked doubtful. "It's cold out here, it's bound to be colder in there," he noted.

"Not that cold if you keep moving," Kirby promised. She slightly turned in the water. "or are you going to let a girl like me out-tough you?"

"I'm too old to fall for that kind of thing," Atlan said. "Why don't you come out instead?"

"Maybe I don't want a tall brooding guy see me near-naked?" Kirby suggested. The expression on her face made very clear that she did no such thing.

"That damage has already been done," Atlan announced. "The water is quite clear."

Kirby laughed.

"Then you are definitely at an advantage over me, since your coat is not," she pointed out. "I'm all for evening things out a little more."

"I'm not getting out of my clothes," Atlan declared. "Certainly not in this weather."

Kirby moved to the edge of the water and pushed herself up and out to come to sit on the earth, legs still dangling into the pool.

"You sure?" she asked, batting her eyelids up at the man.

Atlan's eyes roved appreciatively over the woman's body. Oh, she was quite a sight indeed.

"Very sure."

It was cold.

Kirby slowly got to her feet, moving in ways that were sure to keep the man's mind engaged.

"It's actually colder out here than in there," he said as she took the two steps over to where he was standing. She stood very close to him, slowly bringing up her hands in the most unthreatening manner possible - if anything, her movement was going to get his thoughts going in an entirely differnet direction.

Then she pushed, hard, with both flat palms against his chest.

Surprised by the sudden attack, Atlan stepped back to keep his balance. The ground gave way under his foot as he came too close to the edge of the pool in his maneuver. He wheeled his arms in a rather undignified manner, trying and failing to get back on secure ground before he finally followed gravity and landed in the pool with a loud splash.

"There you go," Kirby said, satisfied. "Stay where you are, I'll be right with you!"

He shook his head to get the wet hair out of his eyes. He was quite certain she wouldn't let him climb back out at the end where she was standing.

He probed below him to see if the pond was shallow enough to stand.

Kirby jumped back into the pool, far away from Atlan to not risk hurting him in a collsion, but close enough to splash water into his face again.

He sputtered and shook himself again.

The bottom was too far away to stand, so he decided to at least get rid of his shoes. Kicking them off in the water was harder than he had expected.

Kirby swam to where Atlan was with a few quick strokes. "Well?" she asked. "How cold is it?"

"Too cold," Atlan ground out. "Now are you going to try to drown me or what?"

Kirby laughed. "I might," she said. "Then I could try mouth-to-mouth resuscitation."

Come to think of it, she liked that idea. Or at least the one of something that also involved mouths in close contact.

Atlan paddled another meter farther away from her. "Don't you dare," he said. "Plus, I'm larger and heavier than you. If anyone gets drowned it'll be you."

"Only if you're the one to apply the mouth-to-mouth resuscitation afterwards," Kirby said, laughing.

He looked even better with his hair plastered wetly into his face that way.

Atlan shook himself, trying to get wet hair out of his face. "I'd have to think about that one very carefully, lady," he announced, trying hard to keep a straight face.

"Why?" Kirby said with a smirk. "Not interested in us mere mortals?"

What exactly did that woman know?

"As a matter of fact," he replied, trying not to let his apprehension at her sudden hint at knowledhe show, "there have been a few women on this planet that have caught and held my interest before. That, however, does not mean I'll work to keep around any of the more potentially obnoxious ones."

That, as another matter of fact, was very close to a lie. He liked that Kirby with her attitude and eyes that suggested she'd seen more than most did in a lifetime much longer than hers. But that was something she did not need to know.

"Oh, and I assume I'm one of the more obnoxious ones?" Kirby asked.

"Sir, let me ensure you that no man has yet said that about me after I was through with him."

He tried working his way towards the shore.

"I have no doubt in your prowess," he declared.

Indeed he had not, looking at her body. Even through the water it was ... inspiring.

"Good!" Kirby said. "Because there's nothing to doubt, really!"

With a few strong strokes, she passed him by and positioned herself between him and the shoreline.

Atlan chuckled, trying to sound like he was more amused than apprehensive.

"Are you planning on drowning me?"
