Loki strolled into the manor and up to the front desk with a wide smile on his face and his old backpack slung over his shoulder. It felt so familiar he almost wanted to go straight on to his old room, but he'd been gone too long. They'd probably given it to somebody else.

But it didn't really matter where he slept anyway. So he leaned against the desk and rang the bell to get a room."

Kirby was just coming from the restaurant and about to cross the lobby to go for a quick run in the park.

She stopped short as she saw a stranger lean at the counter, alone.

A dazzling smile stole over her face.

"Hey there, handsome," she told the man. "You waiting for someone specific?"

"Ah yes, I remember the forest," Loki said with a slight wince. He hadn't meant to lose War's tank like that, but he'd probably find a way to talk himself out of it, if she minded.

"Is ... Scarlet still here?" He thought that might have been the name she'd used anyway. "Beautiful woman with long red hair?"
