Summary: Just making Murdoc available to be played with, maybe also for merging him into Joe and Belial's plans.


Originally, he had only wanted to take a look around and opened the door to the ballroom to quickly glance in and leave again.

Then he had spotted the piano there. It may have been a mismatch for a man of his profession, but he loved theater, and he loved music.

He entered the room, walking over to the instrument and carefully tried a few keys to see if it was in need of tuning.

It was not.

He slid onto the stool in front of it without thinking about it and tried a tune. He kept it simple at first, feeling the years of too little practice in the somewhat sluggish reaction of his fingers and almost-mistakes.

Soon, though, he picked up both confidence and speed, moving on to something a bit more sophisticated.

"How long had you been listening?" Murdoc asked, a little suspiciously.

"And how large is your band yet?"

"Not very," Joe admitted. thenhe chuckled a little as a thought came to him. "You can have a formal audition if you want to..."

"I'll take one if you want me to," Murdoc said. "Otherwise you'll hear me at the first rehearsal at the latest."

"Not too long," Belial responded, sipping his wine. "An audition would be nice, though; Joe should probably judge for himself if you're what he wants."

"Can you leave the bar at this point?" Murdoc asked the barman.

Joe looked around the otherwise empty bar.

"Right now, I think I can afford to leave for a bit," he decided.

He walked around the bar to join his two guests. "Shall we?"

"Of course," Belial grinned.

"Fine then," Murdoc said. "Let's go." He turned to leave the bar and return to the ball room and the piano.

"After you," Belial gestured to Joe.

Murdoc walked back to where the piano stood with them and sat down at the instrument.

"Anyting specific?" he asked.

The demon shrugged, glancing at Joe. "He's in charge."

"What were you playing when he heard you?" Joe asked.
