Adam had no intention of letting the question of what happened to that knife simply go. He had a certain responsibility towards the people here after all.

Gabriel or Michael has it, Raphael had said. Well, he had no idea where Michael was, but Gabriel was likely to be found in the library.

Once he had taken his leave from Raphael, that, therefore, was exactly where he went.

Gabriel slid a bookmark into his book and looked up, smiling. "Hello, Adam. Can I help you?"

"I don't know," Adam said. "Maybe. I'm looking for a knife."

Gabriel raised an eyebrow. "I can provide books on weaponry, but no knives, I'm afraid. Perhaps you could ask Michael, I'm sure he has spares."

"I'm looking for a particular one," Adam explained. "Raphael came to me earlier. He was talking about a cursed blade he used to mutilate himself. He also said that either you or Michael would have it now. I don't think that kind of thing should be around here, openly accessible."

"...Oh." Gabriel nodded. "It's in my room, I hadn't decided how to get rid of it. What were you planning to do with it, if I may ask?"

"Remove it to make sure it does no more damage," Adam said. He wasn't quite sure how he'd go about it yet, but he was certain he would find a way to permanently banish it from his personal space - which he currently considered to include all of Lower Tadfield.

Gabriel nodded and held his hand out, palm facing upwards. He concentrated. The cursed dagger appeared in his hand, and he winced a little; calling cursed objects to himself was not something he did often.

"Here you go," he handed it to Adam. "By 'removing' it, do you mean you're going to destroy it, or simply put it somewhere very far away?"

"I would like the former," Adam said. "I'm not quite sure how to go about it, so the latter may have to do. We'll see."

Gabriel shrugged. "You could try willing it not to exist? I've had to get rid of cursed objects before but it can be messy; then again, I don't have your power and this is your turf."

"See," Adam said, "the problem is that I don't know what happens to things one wills out of existance. Do they stop to exist at all, or do they just go someplace else? I fear I have to assume that the fact that the option crossed my mind might already make it possible. And then there's the question of what else is where something I will out of existence might go? Is it like, a non-existing place that collects all the things I ever needed to get rid of as a kid? What if those Atlantis people from back then are there now? Or someone or something else that might do something with the blade? I'd really rather destroy it and know for sure no one can get up to any mischief with it anymore.

Gabriel nodded. Atlantis people?

"Would you like the help of Michael or myself?"

"I hope that won't be necessary," Adam said. "And if it turns out I need help, I'll know where to find you after all."

Gabriel nodded again, smiling. "Good luck."

"Thanks," Adam said. "I may need it."

Adam took the knife from Gabriel and put it in his belt. "I trust I'll see you around."

"You know where to find me," Gabriel grinned. "Have a good day, Adam."

"Same to you, Gabriel," Adam said and gave him a short wave as he turned around to leave.
