Gabriel's gaze flickered between Michael's face and his outstretched hand. I shouldn't - but he wanted to. And it was the thought of spending so long in Michael's company, exploring all the not-quite-familiar places of Earth with him, that Gabriel was looking forward to, after all. And he had wanted to leave.
All he needed to bring were his sword, horn, a couple of first-editions that were personal copies and not the library's, and Ishtar's gift. With a thought, his sword and horn were at his waist and everything else was in a rucksack on his back. The cats were quite surprised about appearing at his feet, but he wanted to say goodbye before sending them back to his room to await Ms Hodges; they rubbed against his legs as if sensing that he was leaving, Ta-Miu letting out an uncharacteristic purr. A letter of apology, containing arrangements for the cats, appeared on Ms Hodges' desk. All this took less than a minute.
Smiling back at Michael, he placed his hand in Michael's and let the Warrior pull him up.
