Startled, Lucifer almost returned the hug. He caught himself. "I'm fine," he said. "What's wrong with you? In case you forgot, I'm evil. You're not supposed to come jump all over me like a kitten. You should either cower in fear or whip out your sword and try to cut my head off."

He held Raphael at arm's length away from himself to look him over.

"Or," he suggested with a hint of a grin, "have you come to join me?"
