"I was trying to convince you to come with me," he replied, before momentarily closing his eyes and letting himself bask for a second in how comfortable he was where he was. After that, he cleared his throat. "I think I'm fine."
With that, Crowley pushed himself up into a sitting position, leaning back against the stone wall. "And you're right, you should stay here, but I'm leaving."
Beneath his shades, Crowley blinked. He hadn't planned on saying that. What the bugger was he up to? Oh. Right. The nightmare. He wasn't going to let that happen, and he wasn't going to hand around awkwardly, and if he had to fight his way out of here and/or even go find Beelzebub and challenge him personally, he'd do it to protect Aziraphale, and to protect his own denial. He just needed to find a demonic excuse for his actions to justify them to himself, but the one that was at the back of the Serpent's mind was not demonic nor anything he wanted to admit.
