Loki started at the sudden appearance of ... Oh no, it felt like another Judeo-Christian god! She really didn't need them knowing just how weak she was.
Her head came up, the ears twitched and turned all attention focussed on the newcomer now. Why hadn't she smelled that cigarette the moment she'd changed?
He felt more like the manor than the other one had. Either this one had been living here for a while or he was of the other group. Loki hoped for the later. Then he wasn't likely to tell Uriel what he'd just seen.
For a moment she hesitated. In order to answer him she had to shift back and that would drain her even more. If she remained a horse, though, she couldn't answer him and that would look even more stupid.
No way around it then, she had to change back. Rearing up on her hind legs for the transformation wasn't an option. She didn't have the strength. Maybe she could control the shift enough to stand up as she transformed.
Smaller, agile human hands that can shuffle cards and make coins disappear in sleeves - pick locks when they want to, human mouth and tongue to speak with ...
Controlling the shift had been too ambitious a goal. Loki belly flopped into the mud, but at least that saved him from having to try and balance on only two legs in the condition he was in. Fuck, the world was spinning again. It hadn't done that in a while.
"I," he panted. "Am ... co ... com ... pletely ... out ... of ... pr ... practise ..."
Well, if the other was going to underestimate him, that was probably going to be useful as well.
