Date: April 15th, 2003, afternoon
Status: Public
Setting: The grounds
Summary: Duncan is bored

Duncan was feeling restless. He had planned on taking a few days off, just relaxing, doing nothing at all but eat, sleep and have some fun.

It wasn't working out like that, though.

For one thing, the thought of those winged swordsmen wouldn't leave his head. He had dealt with demons before, so he assumed he shouldn't be too surprised by the idea of angels. Whether or not they were harmless was subject to debate, though.

He had spent part of the day before prowling the town, checking out alternatives to the hotel where he and Joe stayed and found none. He would just have to make do with that somewhat aggressive angel nearby.

The second problem with doing nothing for more than a day was that he was getting bored. He wanted to work out, but the whole town of Lower Tadfield seemed to have not a single dojo. Well, he'd make do with that, too.

Some parts of the hotel were in sole need of renovation. It might be fun to help with the work there sometime. Right now, he was headed outside. The place where the angels had started their fencing match seemed like a good enough place to go through some martial arts patterns. They worked like meditation for him, clearing his mind and helping him reach decisions and sort his thoughts.

He put his sheathed sword on the ground and carefully covered it with his jacket, before launching himself into a complex unarmed combat pattern.

Gabriel blinked, stunned. He had not just called Michael a coward.

Just as he opened his mouth to speak, Duncan left. Gabriel turned to Michael.

"... I do not nag you. And I apologise for him. That was out of line."

Michael snorted. "Don't apologise for him. He's a jerkass. Apparently decency is lost on some people. You don't antagonise someone you want to have a bout with. You antagonise someone you want to fight hardcore style." He sighed. "Oh well. If not fighting him pisses him off, call me a pacifist as far as he's concerned."

He grinned at Gabriel. "And you so do nag. You nag a lot. 'Miiiiichael, watch your language!' 'Miiiiichael, don't call anyone a nickname!' 'Michael, don't eat all the food!' 'Miiiiichael, quit trying to make my cat dance!'"

Gabriel couldn't help but burst out laughing. "Miiiichael, cats are not supposed to dance, and you're lucky Earl Grey at least is fine with you," he mimicked. "And you know very well that I do not normally sound like that."

"Earl Grey has the soul of a disco queen," Michael said confidently. "I was just helping him find it."

"... Indeed. I dare you to help Ta-Miu realise her secret desire to dance." Gabriel raised an eyebrow challengingly, a small, amused smirk curling his lips.

"She doesn't have a secret desire to dance," Michael replied, "considering she is possessed by Satan. No, no, Satan is possessed by her."

Gabriel laughed at the reminder of Ta-Miu's strange animosity towards Michael. "Maybe you should try being nicer to her. She doesn't warm to everyone, anyway, though admittedly I've never seen her attack anyone besides you..."

He glanced at the clock. "And my break is nearly over. I should be getting back to work."

cowritten, and we're done xD

"Yeah yeah, get back to 'work' and your 'job'," Michael said fondly, starting the treadmill up again. "This is sort of like my job, anyway. Yeah. Um, bye Gabe."

Gabriel gave him a Look. "It's Gabriel," he said fondly with a roll of his eyes. He, smiling, left and went back to work. Michael, smiling like a dork and forgetting about Duncan, restarted his exercise routine.
