A night at the bar

Date: April 2, 2003, evening
Status: Public (Complete)
Setting: The Manor Bar
Summary: Loki invited me for a drink, so here I am... Let's see who else is coming.

Staying in one place for a while had its advantages. Loki was in a surprisingly good mood. Whistling a tune he had  heard at sometime during the past few weeks and that had stuck in his head, he walked into the manor bar. he was hoping his other self would make good on the promise that they'd have a drink or two together. He most definitely wanted to find out a bit more about him. As important it was to know both your friends and enemies inside out - it was certainly even more important to know yourself, if you were planning to end the world.

In the door that lead to the bar, he stopped to see who else was present, if anyone.

"Of course not," Loki said with a smile. "The hotel's restaurant's right over there and there are some nice places in the town as well. I'd join you, but I've already eaten and I've got an appointment to play cards with some of the most wonderful oafs you can imagine. My funds are running a bit low, you see."

It was the first time he'd out and out lied to himself and it was all he could do not to give himself away by nervously checking his other self's expression. Odin sometimes fell for half truths and omissions, but almost always caught Loki's outright lies. Was it possible that his brother knew him better than he knew himself?

"So, see you later then?"

"Sure," Loki promised. "If they're still around by the time you get back."

He'd introduce himself to the carpenter and plumber sometime. They definitely qualified as oafs.

His decision to eat at the manor constituted a problem, though. Most likely he'd return to his room between dinner and going out. It wouldn't be wise to act while the other self was still at the manor and if he was still around when he left and had no card round to show ... Loki decided to postpone his plan and disappear into the attic instead.
