Mary laughed out loud at that. "I was only joking. Nobody in their right senses would invite them to a party."

She paused in front of a plain wooden door and opened it, and stepped into the ballroom. It was quite large, with a piano in one corner and two long tables along one side. Chairs were stacked up by the wall, and all the furniture was covered in sheets to protect them from dust.

"Welcome to the ballroom, sir. You know, I had such high hopes for this place when I had the renovations done, I even had a lovely big chandelier put in and everything, and now it's one of the least-used rooms in the Manor."

It was getting dark, and she began to cross the room to the main doors, next to which was the light-switch for the chandelier.
