"Well", Loki admitted, "most of the contact I had to their god or gods was keeping well away from them."

He looked around the room for a moment, went to the window and opened it to let some air in and check both the view and the escape route at the same time.

"I could always say that all the tricksters and con artists and pickpockets around are my priests", he said, as he turned to his other self again. "From what I've seen, people believe in me - or us - more than in any of our 'fellow gods' these days. They just don't know it."

He checked the bathroom, then decided: "This one will do nicely." He let himself fall onto the bed, arms outstretched to either side, and stayed there, perfectly content for the moment.
